Twyla was born on Feb. 26, 1930 on the family farm in rural Hancock, Iowa to Mervin and Rena (Heft) Martin. Twyla attended country school and was baptized at the Hancock United Methodist Church. During her childhood, Twyla had a pony named Peanuts she enjoyed riding on around the farm. During high school, she enjoyed participating in her school’s girl’s basketball team.

Throughout her life, Twyla worked in in-home childcare and food service at Horn Memorial Hospital. She was known for her warm and nurturing nature while providing care to those in need. Her dedication to her profession touched the lives of many individuals and families.

Twyla had a vibrant personality and loved traveling. She found joy in exploring various destinations around the world. Among her favorite places were Switzerland, Germany, Hawaii, and Alaskan cruises. Twyla also journeyed through the United States extensively, immersing herself in different cultures and creating cherished memories. She even learned to Yodel during one of her expeditions.

In her leisure time, Twyla enjoyed engaging in puzzles, playing cards and games with loved ones and friends.  Craft making brought out her creativity and passion. She had a knack for finding unique gifts while shopping on QVC; but always made sure they required countless batteries - much to the chagrin of the recipients. She also enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeye Girls Basketball Team and the Kansas City Chiefs over the years.

Twyla is survived by her children: David (Bev) Beery of Anthon; Bruce (Anne) Beery of Battle Creek; Wylene (Greg) Heiden of Cape Coral, Florida; and Marchelle (Barry Masten) Beery. Her legacy also lives on through twelve grandchildren along with numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews who will cherish the memories they shared with her.
